Maitreyee Gupte
Engineer by training. Generalist by instinct.
Let's talk
I pick things up fast and figure out what needs to happen.
I have built carbon systems at a 4 billion euro company, shipped a product to 1,500 users in 12 weeks, coordinated climate policy for a state government alongside the UN and World Bank, and secured seed funding for an energy project in Ghana. I work best where the problems are hard and the playbook does not exist yet.
Based in Munich. Open across Europe.

A bit about me
I grew up in Pune, studied engineering, then moved to Munich for my Masters at TUM — where I got serious about carbon, climate, and making sustainability work in practice, not just in theory.
I have been the data infrastructure person at a global materials company, the strategy person at a SaaS startup, a policy coordinator at a state government, and a product owner at a 12-week launch sprint. I move fast, take ownership, and do not need everything defined before I start.
I am open to Founders Associate roles, early-stage operations, and generalist positions at climate or tech companies in Europe. If that sounds like something you are building, I would like to talk.
Experience
What I Have Done
A range of roles across product, sustainability, policy, and operations — connected by a preference for hard problems and undefined playbooks.

Role 1
Product Manager
Digital Product School, UnternehmerTUM · Sep–Nov 2025, Munich
Zero to 1,500 users in 12 weeks
Client: socialbee, a non-profit helping refugees enter the German job market. Product: an AI-enabled learning platform.
What I actually did
  • End-to-end product ownership from scratch
  • User research with 100+ people
  • Sprint planning, roadmap prioritisation, and launch
  • Built team processes, communication rhythms, and decision-making structure
Awarded the DPS Certificate of Completion, November 2025.
Role 2
Solutions Expert
SupplyOn AG · Feb 2024–Sep 2025, Munich · B2B SaaS for automotive supply chains, backed by Bosch, Continental, Schaeffler, and ZF.
AI Plausibility Check
Designed an AI-assisted system for industrial Product Carbon Footprints — identified the gap, built the solution.
Competitive & Regulatory Analysis
ESG software market analysis turned into strategic proposals for product leadership. Translated CSRD and CBAM into supplier data workflows.
Masters Thesis
Comparative study of PCF standards using AI and LLM-assisted emission factor matching — how to make carbon accounting work at scale with messy data.
Role 3
Sustainability Specialist
W.L. Gore & Associates GmbH · Sep 2022–Jan 2024, Munich · ~€4 billion annual revenue. Gore-Tex and advanced materials across chemical, automotive, medical, and consumer industries.
What I built
  • Carbon accounting workflows across 40,000+ product categories
  • Scope 1–3 GHG inventories and Life Cycle Assessments
  • Power BI dashboards tracking an 11% annual emissions reduction target
The impact
Translated results into recommendations that R&D, procurement, and operations teams could actually act on. Made the system work, not just the analysis.
Role 4
Climate Fellow
Government of Maharashtra, Dept. of Environment and Climate Change · Nov 2021–Mar 2022, Mumbai · Maharashtra GDP: ~$300 billion. Reported to the Deputy Secretary.
Majhi Vasundhara Abhiyan
Supported design and rollout of the state's flagship climate programme. Appointed nodal officer for rural bodies in Pune division.
International Coordination
Coordinated with UN, World Bank, C40 Cities, Climate Group, and WRI on international climate commitments across 20+ stakeholders.
Policy Contributions
Contributed to a $5 million policy plan. Worked on Maharashtra EV Policy 2021, Under2 Coalition, and EV100 partnerships.

The thing I learned here: large-scale coordination is mostly about being very clear, very organised, and very patient.
Role 5
Scientific Content Specialist
Emidat GmbH · May–Dec 2025, Munich (freelance)
Emidat builds LCA and EPD software for construction. I translated ISO standards and regulatory requirements into plain-language product guidance and sales enablement materials — making carbon data feel useful to non-specialists.
Role 6
Project Manager
NB Consultants · May–Nov 2021, Pune
Managed a $10 million project portfolio with a team of 12. Coordinated contractors, supervisors, and leadership. First job out of university.

Learned that project management is mostly about knowing what is blocked and talking to the right person.
Projects
Other Things I Have Worked On
Side projects, competitions, and initiatives that sit outside the day job — but very much part of how I think and work.
Project 1
Energy Transition in Ghana
TU eMpower Africa, TUM-accredited non-profit · 2022–2023
Secured €31,000 in seed funding. Led business concept development and project management for an energy transition initiative in rural Ghana reaching more than 1,000 households. Cross-continental, cross-functional, and completely self-directed.
Project 2
Circular Economy Strategy Game
School of Circularity, Circular Republic · 2025
Designed a business model strategy game mapping circular value chains, commercial actors, trade-offs, and feedback loops — making systems thinking playable and useful.
Project 3
XPRIZE Carbon Removal
TUM Carbon Removal Initiative · 2022–2023
Technical team member on a Direct Air Capture prototype. Worked on the storage system and CAD development. Awarded the Planet Hero Award by Zurich Insurance.
Business Strategy Lead — reStove
Enactus Munich · 2022–2023
reStove makes low-cost biogas plants for Indian households to reduce indoor air pollution. Led market penetration strategy for rural India, ran workshops, and worked on commercial scaling strategy.
Product Development with Workday
In collaboration with TUM · 2023
Designed a learning platform for software engineers focused on sustainability-aware coding. Applied product discovery and agile methods in collaboration with an enterprise SaaS company.
